Author's Bio

Growing up in Southeast Asia in the 70s, she was a child of contrasts—a place where entrepreneurial spirit met military discipline under the philosophical sway of Theravada Buddhism. Her great-grandfather, a Portuguese missionary working in Southeast Asia in the early 19th century, established a family there, planting the seeds of her multicultural heritage.

During her education, she attended private Catholic schools that were disciplined yet nurturing. From kindergarten through junior high school, she balanced strict academics with spirituality. She first discovered meditation at the age of 10, a practice that became her lifelong sanctuary during times of uncertainty. By 15, her journey took a turn toward the eclectic. Taking on Mahayana Buddhism's expansive teachings and adopting veganism reflected her deepening engagement with the world's diverse spiritual landscapes. Yet, her spiritual exploration didn't stop there; she also found solace and community within an Evangelical Presbyterian Church, adding another dimension to her faith journey.

Her passion for knowledge and understanding propelled her across oceans, from the vibrant streets of Melbourne, where she pursued Mass Media Communication. She then returned to the bustling city of Bangkok, where she completed her degree in English Literature. Each academic endeavor, each shift in geography, was a chapter in her quest for a deeper understanding of the world and her place within it.

As varied as her spiritual journey was, her career path was as well. From the fast-paced world of real estate, where she bought her first home at 21, to the extensive personal transformation following her husband's passing, her career evolved to reflect her inner growth. She found purpose and connection in teaching English, first juggling roles between the banking industry and a tutoring school. She dedicated herself entirely to education before the call of new horizons led her to California. Her spiritual and geographical trajectories didn't settle in one place for long. Minnesota, Hawaii, and eventually the Pacific Northwest became stops on her path, each move accompanied by significant shifts in her spiritual practice—from ordaining as a Theravada nun to practicing Saivam Hinduism.

Yet, it was her return to meditation and the rediscovery of the God of Creation in 2023 that marked her enduring circle of spiritual return. This was a journey of coming home to herself, acknowledging the myriad facets of her belief and being.

Not once has she considered herself special; instead, she views her life as a series of fortunate events and encounters that have allowed her to gain memorable experiences and insights. Throughout her life, her experiences have connected her to cultures, religions, and personal milestones that speak to her deep belief in the power of learning. For her, the journey is far from over. Each day is an opportunity to learn more, explore the mysteries of self and the universe. Her story is a beacon of humble inquiry, reminding us all that despite all the interconnectedness of existence, our greatest adventures lie in the exploration within, in the continuous endeavor to discover who we are and who we aspire to be.

As of 2024, she actively practices ten principles of modern spirituality that guide her daily life:

The Divine Presence in All

The Power of Thought and Creation

Remembering Who I Am

Love as the Ultimate Truth

The Diversity of Spiritual Paths

The Interconnectedness of All Beings

Trusting Inner Guidance

Focusing on the Present Moment

Welcoming Change

Living with Purpose

Through these practices, she continues to explore and deepen her understanding of herself and the world, pursuing a life of continuous growth and spiritual discovery.
